Once On This Island
Once on this Island was written by award-winning songwritting team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. The musical is based off a book My Love, My Love, written by Rosa Guy. The showed opened on Broadway in 1990.
From the MTI website,
"Ti Moune, a peasant girl, rescues a wealthy boy from the other side of the island, Daniel, with whom she falls in love. Unbeknownst to Ti Moune, the pompous gods who preside over the island make a bet with one another over which is stronger, love or death, the stakes being Ti Moune's life..."
The show was directed and choreographed by Hoover Drama's director, Emily Griffin, with the help of Ken-Mat Martin, and Hoover Harmony director Alex Fitzgerlad serving as musical director. The show opened November 6th running through the 8th.
